1,728 New Jobs in IT and Communication: What This Means for Business Growth in Oman
MUSCAT: The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology has reported the creation of 1,728 job opportunities across various specializations in the communications and information technology sector from January to September of this year.
These positions span 33 different professions, comprising leadership, specialized, and technical roles. Omani nationals secured 80% of these jobs, with the remaining 20% allocated to expatriates.
The ministry’s initiatives to enhance Omanization have successfully increased the share of Omani personnel in the sector, with the proportion of Omanis rising from 49.71% in 2023 to 62.02% in 2024. Conversely, the expatriate workforce has decreased to 37.98% during the same timeframe.
Additionally, through the National Initiative for Digital Capabilities Development (Makeen), the ministry aims to strengthen skills within the communications and information technology field. Since its launch in September 2022, this initiative has facilitated the employment of approximately 226 Omanis.
