Vocational Training Plan by Labour Ministry: Unlocking Opportunities for Business Growth Across Oman’s Governorates

SALALAH, JULY 13 — Sayyid Salem bin Musallam al Busaidi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Labour for Human Resources Development, announced that the Ministry is introducing a new generation of specialized training and development programs tailored to meet the specific needs of each governorate. This initiative aims to strengthen human capital and align skills development with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

During the 11th Annual Human Development Conference in Salalah, Al Busaidi revealed that customized training initiatives will be implemented in each governorate. These initiatives will focus on cultivating local leadership and technical expertise adapted to regional development needs. He described the approach as a strategic move towards decentralized, results-driven training.

Al Busaidi further highlighted the Ministry’s efforts to establish clear vocational pathways beginning at the intermediate school level. These pathways are designed to help Omani youth pursue vocational education that aligns with their skills and the economic priorities of their communities. Each governorate will leverage its unique strengths, with vocational colleges and training centers providing programs tailored to local demands.

“We are currently piloting two models to create a comprehensive vocational track that integrates education with employment and enhances job readiness for our youth,” Al Busaidi stated. He underscored that these initiatives build on previous successes, with a renewed emphasis on improving training quality and expanding developmental impacts.

In closing, Al Busaidi reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to empowering Omanis across all governorates, stating that these targeted programs signify a transformative phase in national workforce development, grounded in the principles of specialization, decentralization, and future-readiness.
