Muscat: The Ministry of Labor has announced that, effective September 1, 2025, all professionals within the accounting, finance, and auditing sectors—both Omani and expatriate—will be required to possess a Professional Classification Certificate. This certificate is essential for the issuance or renewal of work permits in these fields.
The certification process will be managed by the Sector Skills Unit, in collaboration with the Omani Association of Certified Public Accountants, which serves as the regulatory body for the labor market in this sector. The requirement will apply to all workers specified in the approved classification list.
Registration for this certification will start on August 1, with further details provided through the Ministry’s official communication channels.
The Ministry clarified that work permits will only be granted upon submission of the approved certificate for roles outlined within the classification. Notably, no work permits will be issued after the deadline without this necessary certification. Employers are strongly encouraged to ensure compliance with these new requirements.
