Ensuring Worker Health During Ramadan: Key Guidelines from MoL for Business Compliance in Oman
Muscat: The Ministry of Labour (MoL) has called on companies to prioritize the occupational safety and health of their employees during the Holy Month of Ramadhan.
Employers are urged to monitor signs of fatigue among their workers and implement necessary measures to alleviate it, including reducing stress in the workplace. They are responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment tailored to the unique demands of this month. This includes shorter working hours for jobs that require outdoor exertion, raising awareness about potential risks, providing cold water for hydration, and ensuring access to personal protective equipment.
Employees are also advised to take care of their health during Ramadhan by postponing their suhoor meal, consuming fiber-rich foods, and staying well-hydrated.
Both employers and employees are encouraged to adopt flexible work schedules without extending shifts, establish first aid and emergency protocols, limit caffeine and sugary drinks during breakfast, and communicate any chronic conditions or medications to supervisors.
