Exploring NCSI’s AI Opinion Survey: Key Insights for Investors and Entrepreneurs in Oman
MUSCAT: On Sunday, the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) launched a nationwide public opinion survey aimed at assessing the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies into everyday life. This initiative is part of broader efforts to track digital transformation trends within the Sultanate of Oman.
Running until May 28, the survey targets Omani citizens aged 18 and older. Its primary objectives are to gauge the extent of AI adoption, evaluate trust levels in AI-generated information, and examine perceived benefits and potential risks associated with this technology.
Mahfoudh bin Salem al Musharfi, Director of the Public Opinion Measurement Department at the NCSI, stated that the survey seeks to quantify AI usage patterns across various sectors, including the frequency of use and motivations behind its adoption.
He highlighted that the study will assess whether AI tools enhance performance and reduce errors, or if they inadvertently lead to greater inaccuracies in certain applications.
Additionally, al Musharfi pointed out that the survey will address public concerns regarding AI, particularly related to sensitive issues and the use of personal data. It will also investigate how users verify information and AI-generated responses, alongside the level of confidence they place in those outputs.
The findings are expected to assist policymakers and relevant authorities in pinpointing areas requiring regulation and intervention. Furthermore, they will support the development of awareness campaigns and training programs designed to promote the safe and effective use of AI technologies.
Ultimately, the results will also help identify essential skills needed for society to adapt to an increasingly digital environment. — ONA
