Maritime Portal Launch in Oman: Enhancing Efficiency and Growth Opportunities for Investors and Business Owners
MUSCAT: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has introduced the “Oman Maritime Portal,” a comprehensive digital platform offering over 90 electronic maritime services. This initiative is designed to speed up procedures, enhance user experience, and significantly reduce dependency on paperwork and manual processes.
The portal aims to foster stronger integration between government agencies and private sector entities by providing secure, reliable digital services. It also supports decision-making through advanced dashboards and analytical reporting tools, while promoting national workforce development via training and knowledge transfer programs.
The implementation will occur in six phases, with the first phase rolling out 13 key services. These include vessel and marine unit registration, issuance and renewal of navigation permits, registration and mortgage certificates, release documentation, and inspection requests. The system is integrated with key stakeholders such as the Royal Oman Police, Oman Business Platform, relevant ministries, government entities, and private partners.
Serving as a single electronic gateway for maritime and port-related services, the portal enhances efficiency and accessibility for users, reflecting the Ministry’s commitment to advancing digital transformation and delivering superior public services.
A standout feature is the portal’s comprehensive dashboard, which offers real-time monitoring of system performance. It displays data on application statuses, key performance indicators, and recent transactions, supplemented by advanced filtering and search capabilities. This functionality enhances oversight, strengthens follow-up processes, and simplifies operational management.
By digitising maritime and logistics services, the portal enables faster processing and easier access through integrated channels, ensuring a seamless user experience and improved beneficiary satisfaction.
The portal’s launch aligns with the Ministry’s wider strategy to modernise maritime and logistics services and accelerate digital transformation across the sector, delivering efficient, high-quality services to citizens, businesses, and government stakeholders. — ONA
