Franchise Model Boosts Omani SME Growth: Key Opportunities for Investors and Entrepreneurs in Oman
MUSCAT, JUNE 22 — The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) has reported several successful outcomes from its Franchise Programme during the launch of its fifth edition on Sunday, June 21, 2026.
One highlighted success story is that of Asaad bin Saud al Akhzami, founder of the “Nomad Inn” brand. Al Akhzami expressed his gratitude to the Chamber’s Franchise Centre for its valuable expertise, which aided in refining operational processes into well-defined work systems and preparing the company for expansion through franchising. Under this model, “Nomad Inn” has secured three franchise agreements within Oman, including two in the Wilayat of Sur and one in the Wilayat of Nizwa. The brand aims to grow to 15 hotels and resorts domestically and seeks to enter international markets.
Syed Iqbal from Shaheen Group shared his experience in extending the Omani brand “Seven Fries” to the United States via a master franchise agreement with Al Saleh Ideal Projects. He emphasized that this achievement showcases Omani brands’ potential to compete globally when equipped with the right resources for growth.
The latest phase of the programme is set to develop 26 Omani brands, with implementation starting in September 2026 and continuing over an eight-month period. This initiative is expected to create new investment opportunities and bolster the presence of national brands in both local and international markets. Franchising is viewed as a key catalyst for the expansion of Omani companies and attracting future investments.
Faisal bin Abdullah al Rawas, Chairman of the OCCI Board, underscored that the programme is a strategic initiative designed to enhance the competitiveness of the private sector, empower SMEs, and support national brands in achieving sustainable growth. This approach aligns with Oman Vision 2040’s goals to diversify the economy and increase the private sector’s developmental role.
Al Rawas explained that the programme prioritizes preparing promising brands by converting them into franchise-ready business models, thereby improving their prospects for regional and global expansion. Additionally, it aims to boost the efficiency of national enterprises through the adoption of best practices and international standards.

The OCCI’s Franchise Programme is a strategic catalyst for Oman’s private sector growth, enabling national brands to scale through franchising locally and internationally. For businesses, this creates significant opportunities to diversify, expand market presence, and attract investment under the guidance of structured franchise models. Smart investors and entrepreneurs should now prioritize scouting promising Omani brands poised for franchising, as this aligns with Oman Vision 2040’s push for economic diversification and SME empowerment.
