Omani Space Tech Startup Secures FFO Backing: Implications for Investors and Business Growth in Oman
MUSCAT, JUNE 16 – Rocket Elements and Technologies (RE&T), an Omani space technology startup specializing in advanced propulsion systems, has received funding support from Future Fund Oman (FFO). This investment marks a significant endorsement of Oman’s growing deep-tech and aerospace innovation sectors.
The funding announcement comes as part of a broader series of agreements finalized by Future Fund Oman last week, which provided financial backing to a diverse range of companies and startups across various industries. Beneficiaries include sectors such as tourism, renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, healthcare, medical technologies, and innovation-driven enterprises. This initiative reflects the fund’s goal to stimulate economic diversification and attract private investment into high-growth areas.
RE&T expressed immense pride in partnering with FFO, highlighting that its selection places the startup among a significant portfolio of national investments, particularly in the aerospace field. “It was an honour to be featured alongside a diverse array of strategic investments spanning multiple key industries,” the company stated.
This funding represents a major achievement for RE&T, which is focused on developing cost-effective space propulsion technologies, particularly high-pressure turbopumps—essential components in liquid and hybrid rocket engines. The startup aims to lower space transportation costs while enhancing Oman’s involvement in the global aerospace value chain.
Founded by entrepreneur Mohammed al Alawi, RE&T recently graduated from the inaugural Oman Space Accelerator Programme (OSAP), which took place from August to December 2025. The programme concluded with a prominent showcase where RE&T presented its flagship innovation: a high-pressure turbopump designed for next-generation propulsion systems.
Building on this momentum, RE&T has entered a scaling phase, garnering early interest from several venture capital firms in Oman. The company is also actively seeking grant funding to support the prototyping and production of its turbopump technology.
Earlier this year, RE&T further enhanced its technical credentials at the Middle East Space Conference 2026 (MESC2026), held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre in Muscat. During the event, the company showcased a proof-of-concept 800-bar liquid hydrogen turbopump, achieving first place in the OSAP competition segment.
RE&T’s engineering roadmap concentrates on designing and manufacturing high-pressure turbopumps that can satisfy global aerospace demand for reliable and economical propulsion systems. The startup’s 800-bar liquid hydrogen design aims to demonstrate cutting-edge capabilities, addressing the unique engineering challenges presented by hydrogen’s extreme cryogenic temperatures, low density, and complex handling requirements.
The startup believes that mastering liquid hydrogen systems will unlock broader applications in cryogenic propulsion technologies. Utilizing advanced digital engineering tools, including computational fluid dynamics (CFD), finite-element analysis (FEA), and additive manufacturing, RE&T seeks to accelerate its development and position Oman as a competitive player in high-value aerospace hardware and innovation-led exports.
