Oman’s Strategic Push as GCC Trade Gateway: What It Means for Investors and Business Growth
MUSCAT: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, in collaboration with the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Royal Oman Police, has confirmed that the land transport sector is fully prepared to facilitate the movement of goods from Omani ports to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) markets.
The authorities emphasized a series of streamlined procedures designed to enhance trade flow and boost supply chain efficiency across the region.
The ministry announced the implementation of a comprehensive package of logistical measures to ensure the smooth transit of goods and enable rapid responses to transport and supply demands. Among these measures is the facilitation of entry for empty land transport vehicles from GCC countries to pick up goods from Oman.
Transport operators are now able to submit applications via the “Bayan” system, which accelerates and streamlines the processing of transport-related procedures.
Officials highlighted that these initiatives emphasize the critical role of transit transport in supporting the flow of goods through Oman to regional markets. The new measures aim to improve shipping efficiency and enhance supply chain sustainability.
These efforts further solidify Oman’s status as a vital logistics corridor and trusted trade gateway in the region, while also fostering new opportunities for economic collaboration with neighboring countries. — ONA
