Oman Oil Price Climbs to $93.38 per Barrel: What This Means for Investors and Businesses in Oman
MUSCAT: The official price of Oman crude oil for August delivery increased by $2.49 on Monday, reaching $93.38 per barrel, up from $90.89 at the close of trading last Friday.
This rise occurred amid a broader surge in global oil markets, with crude prices climbing more than 4 percent following renewed geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
Brent crude futures rose by $4.02, or 4.3 percent, to $97.11 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude advanced $3.90, or 4.3 percent, to $94.44 during Monday’s trading session.
Market sentiment was bolstered by concerns over potential disruptions to energy supplies after renewed Israeli strikes on targets in Iran and escalating regional tensions. Analysts noted that the ongoing uncertainty surrounding shipping routes and energy flows through the Strait of Hormuz continues to support elevated oil prices.
Observers highlighted that restrictions impacting traffic through this crucial waterway have intensified worries about global supply security. The Strait of Hormuz typically handles approximately one-fifth of the world’s daily oil and liquefied natural gas shipments.
The recent price gains reversed losses seen last Friday when hopes of a diplomatic breakthrough briefly pressured prices lower. Since the onset of the regional conflict over 100 days ago, Brent crude has surged by 34 percent, while WTI has increased by 41 percent.
Meanwhile, the average monthly price of Oman crude for June delivery was $104.73 per barrel, down $19.32 from the average price recorded for May delivery. — Agencies
