RO 90 Million Wadi Zaha Neighbourhood Unveils New Investment Opportunities in Sultan Haitham City: What It Means for Business Owners
Muscat: The “Wadi Zaha” project, a significant initiative by Al Ahly Sabbour Real Estate Development, was inaugurated on January 15, 2025, during a ceremony at the Royal Opera House Muscat. This ambitious development represents the first neighborhood in Sultan Haitham City, backed by an investment of RO 90 million and spanning an area of 420,000 square meters.
Designed to harmonize architectural innovation with Oman’s cultural heritage, "Wadi Zaha" aims to establish Oman as a premier real estate investment hub. The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Dr. Khalfan bin Said al Shueili, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, and attended by esteemed dignitaries, including ministers, ambassadors, senior officials, business leaders, and investors.
Eng. Ahmed Sabbour, Chairman and Managing Director of Al Ahly Sabbour, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the strategic partnership between his company and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning. He pointed to Oman’s stability and visionary leadership, along with strong international relations—particularly with Egypt—as pivotal factors in positioning the country as an attractive destination for business and investment. “Oman’s wise policies and robust international ties have established it as a global hub for peace and prosperity,” Sabbour stated.
Selecting Sultan Haitham City for this project aligns with Oman Vision 2040, a strategy aimed at making the nation a leader in urban and economic development. Designed by the esteemed architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), Wadi Zaha merges contemporary urban planning with traditional Omani values.
The project’s first phase encompasses 23 acres of the planned 100-acre site, featuring 760 residential units and maintaining a total investment of RO 90 million. Sabbour emphasized the project’s commitment to sustainability and innovation, aiming to foster a vibrant and inclusive community. “Wadi Zaha embodies a harmonious balance of Omani traditions and modern living, offering residents an integrated and fulfilling lifestyle,” he remarked.
The development is organized into three neighborhoods: Wadi Zaha, Wadi Tala, and Wadi Safa. It is projected to attract substantial investments, create job opportunities for Omani citizens, and stimulate economic growth in accordance with the national Omanisation policy.
Jamal bin Nasser al Hadi, Media Advisor to the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, described the launch as a landmark moment in Oman’s urban development trajectory. He noted, “This project transcends mere real estate investment; it represents a strategic initiative that redefines urban development standards while promoting sustainable living.” Al Hadi also underscored the historical and economic ties linking Oman and Egypt, strengthened through this collaborative effort.
Thomas Beer, Managing Partner at SOM, spoke on the project’s innovative and sustainable design, envisioning Wadi Zaha as an urban oasis that harmonizes nature and modernity. “Its strategic location in Sultan Haitham City, overlooking a central park and serene natural landscapes, will create a vibrant and balanced living environment,” Beer explained.
