Oman Launches Tourism Workshops in Jaipur: What This Means for Business and Investment Opportunities in Oman’s Travel Sector
JAIPUR: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism of Oman has inaugurated a series of promotional tourism workshops in Jaipur, India, featuring participation from Omani tourism institutions, establishments, and airlines. The workshops will continue until August 21.
This three-day event includes bilateral meetings between representatives from Oman’s tourism sector and their Indian counterparts, complemented by detailed presentations on Oman’s tourism attractions and collaborative opportunities.
This initiative forms part of Oman’s ongoing strategy to enhance its presence in the Indian market, showcasing the Sultanate’s rich and diverse tourism offerings. The goal is to build strong partnerships with Indian tourism stakeholders and position Oman as a premier destination for families and travelers interested in cultural, natural, and wellness experiences.
A total of 25 Omani tourism entities are engaging with 150 Indian tourism companies to strengthen cooperation and attract key tourist segments. The workshops come amid a steady rise in Indian tourists visiting Oman, which reached approximately 623,623 in 2024.
These figures underscore the significance of India as a priority market in Oman’s tourism strategy, supported by deep-rooted historical, cultural, and commercial ties between the two nations. Oman’s tourism sector also recorded robust performance in 2024, welcoming 3.9 million visitors from January to December.
Yusuf bin Khalaf al Majizi, Assistant Director of Market Development at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, emphasized the centrality of the Indian market due to its large and diverse traveler base. “India shares deep historical and cultural links with Oman, which makes it easier to promote tourism and build sustainable connections,” he stated.
Al Majizi highlighted Jaipur’s selection as the host city, recognizing it as a significant economic and tourist hub in India. This choice reflects the ministry’s commitment to expanding international collaborations and reinforcing Oman’s presence in emerging markets. The event also provides direct engagement with leading travel companies and highlights Oman’s distinctive offerings—from its rich cultural heritage to varied natural landscapes.
The ministry aims to showcase Oman as a multi-season destination, offering a broad range of experiences including adventure tourism, heritage and nature tourism, wedding tourism, incentive and conference tourism, and luxury hospitality that blends tradition with modern comfort.
Al Majizi added that the workshops seek to sustainably increase the number of Indian visitors and enhance tourism’s contribution to Oman’s national economy, aligning with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, which focuses on economic diversification and investment in promising sectors. — ONA
