Private Sector to Drive 11th Five-Year Plan Priorities: What It Means for Investors and Entrepreneurs in Oman
MUSCAT: The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) will convene its second Ramadhan evening gathering on March 2, 2026, to review the priorities of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan (2026–2030). This event aims to align the private sector with Oman’s next phase of national development.
Held under the patronage of Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said al Busaidy, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, the meeting will facilitate expanded dialogue on economic development goals and reinforce the private sector’s preparedness in support of Oman Vision 2040.
Key discussions will emphasize the Plan’s strategic objectives, including economic diversification, improving the business environment, and expanding high value-added industries. Focus areas will also include smart manufacturing, digital transformation, and the adoption of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence across both public and private sectors.
Tourism diversification will be a central theme, with attention on developing high-quality, sustainable tourism offerings. The discussions will also cover infrastructure development and national talent cultivation in productive and service sectors to strengthen public-private partnerships and boost the private sector’s GDP contribution.
Faisal bin Abdullah al Rawas, Chairman of OCCI, stated that the Chamber’s goal is to provide a platform for decision-makers, experts, and business leaders to evaluate the Plan’s priorities and uncover growth opportunities. He highlighted that insights gained from this session are expected to support the effective implementation of the upcoming development phase.
The event will feature a panel discussion with prominent figures including HH Dr. Adham bin Turki al Said, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Economic Studies and Research Centre at OCCI; Eng. Ahmed bin Hassan al Dheeb, Deputy Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones; Dr. Nasser bin Rashid al Maawali, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Economy; Dr. Ali bin Amer al Shaithani, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology; and Azzan bin Qasim al Busaidy, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism.
