MoTCIT Launches Digital Skills Drive for Nationals: How This Initiative Can Boost Your Business in Oman

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology has unveiled a new initiative named ‘Irtiqa’ (ascension), aimed at fostering national skills essential for the digital transformation of government services.

This program is launched in collaboration with the Royal Academy of Management (RAM), the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS), and the Omani Society for Human Resources Management (OSHRM).

The ‘Irtiqa’ program is designed to cultivate a generation of leaders adept at driving the digital transition and fostering innovation within government operations. It aims to enhance service quality, improve the user experience on digital platforms, and align with the goals of a knowledge-based economy, emphasizing that digital knowledge serves as crucial capital and a key driver of sustainable economic growth.

During the launch ceremony, a visual presentation outlined the fundamental aspects of government digital transition. It emphasized the necessity of capacity building and the empowerment of individuals to meet the demands of the digital shift in the Sultanate of Oman. The presentation also addressed methods for facilitating the exchange of expertise to sustain digital knowledge.

Additionally, the event featured a dialogue session that examined the vital role of individuals in leading digital transformation efforts.

‘Irtiqa’ follows previous initiatives aimed at enhancing performance, including the National Programme for Government Digital Transformation, known as ‘Tahawul,’ which achieved an overall performance rate of 80% by the first half of 2025, an increase from 73% in 2024. — ONA
