Oman Air’s Surge in Passenger Growth: The Business Implications of Expanding Direct Flights for Investors
Oman Air Sees Unprecedented Growth in Passenger Numbers
Muscat – Oman Air has reported a remarkable increase in passenger numbers on direct flights, surging from 75,000 in June 2024 to 200,000 in June 2025—an increase of more than threefold.
Direct arrivals in the Sultanate of Oman now constitute 58 percent of the airline’s total passenger traffic.
Mike Rutter, Chief Commercial Officer of Oman Air, stated that this growth underscores the effectiveness of the company’s strategy to boost passenger numbers through careful route planning and targeted marketing campaigns. He noted that this approach not only enhances the financial performance of Oman Air but also allows for the sustainable introduction of new destinations.
Rutter emphasized the airline’s commitment to improving travel experiences to Oman, making them more appealing for tourists. He highlighted ongoing investments in expanding the airline’s network and modernizing its fleet. This includes the launch of the Amsterdam route, which aims to open new opportunities in the European market, along with the resumption of double daily flights to London, set to begin next October.
