Oman Hosts Global Executive Semiconductor Summit: Key Insights and Opportunities for Investors and Entrepreneurs
MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman, through the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, is set to host the World Summit for Executives in Semiconductor and Electronic Chips today, December 9, 2025.
This three-day event will be inaugurated under the patronage of Dr. Khamis bin Saif al Jabri, Chairman of the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit. In collaboration with the International Semiconductor Executive Summits, the summit will feature 40 speakers and will include 25 working papers aimed at developing an integrated semiconductor industry ecosystem in the Middle East and North Africa.
The summit is expected to draw over 150 participants, including CEOs from semiconductor manufacturing companies, along with global experts and specialists.
According to a spokesperson from the Ministry, the summit underscores Oman’s commitment to diversifying its economy by fostering knowledge-based industries.
Oman previously hosted a related conference in February 2023, where attendees praised the country as an ideal hub for semiconductors within the GCC. They noted, “Oman is the perfect hub for the creation of semiconductor design and infrastructure in the GCC. It boasts a young, prosperous, and highly educated population. In the global and regional pursuit of tech talent, Oman is poised to become a key destination for leading tech companies establishing global development centers, as well as for local firms expanding internationally.”
In recent years, Oman has been actively working on building its semiconductor industry. In 2024, the first Omani-designed chips, known as Oman-1 and Oman-2, were created in partnership with GSME Oman, a local subsidiary of the global semiconductor leader GS Micro Electronics. Earlier this year, the Ministry issued a call for consultancy bids to seek advisory services for establishing a comprehensive semiconductor production ecosystem, which will be complemented by a dedicated Centre of Excellence for Semiconductors and Electronic Chips.
