Oman’s 3-5 Star Hotel Revenue Jumps 18.5%: Implications for Investors and Entrepreneurs in the Hospitality Sector
MUSCAT: Recent data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) indicates that Oman’s 3- to 5-star hotels experienced notable revenue growth in the first two months of 2026, despite a slight decline in the number of guests.
By the end of February 2026, total guest numbers reached 439,287, marking a decrease of 3.6% from 455,733 during the same period in 2025. In contrast, hotel revenues surged by 18.5%, totaling RO 69.21 million, up from RO 58.38 million a year earlier. This increase reflects stronger pricing strategies and improved revenue management.
Occupancy rates also showed improvement, climbing to 68.4% in February 2026, compared to 67.6% in February 2025, signifying steady demand in the upscale hospitality sector.
Visitor patterns were varied across key markets. The number of Omani guests fell by 5.3% to 129,797. Arrivals from GCC countries saw a more pronounced decline of 18.4%, totaling 22,396, while guests from other Arab nations decreased by 11.6% to 14,485.
Conversely, the Asian market witnessed growth of 4.5%, attracting 61,581 guests, and arrivals from the Americas rose by 5.4% to 16,911. European visitors, the largest demographic, remained relatively stable, with a slight decrease of 0.5% to 172,072.
Other regions experienced downturns, with guest numbers from Africa dropping by 12.4% to 2,798 and Oceania suffering a significant decline of 46.9%, totaling 5,165 guests.
This data underscores the resilience of Oman’s hospitality sector, highlighted by improved occupancy rates and increased spending per guest, even as overall visitor counts declined. — ONA
