RO 100 Million Tourism Boost in Oman: Key Opportunities for Investors and Entrepreneurs

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has signed 36 usufruct contracts valued at RO 100 million to advance a variety of tourism projects across several governorates. This initiative is designed to bolster Oman’s strategy to expand its hospitality sector and attract both domestic and international investors.

The projects, which include hotels, integrated resorts, and eco-tourism camps, aim to enhance the country’s tourism infrastructure, generate local employment, and support the growth of small and medium enterprises in the sector. Officials noted that this initiative aligns with Oman Vision 2040’s objectives to promote sustainable tourism and diversify the economy.

In the Muscat Governorate, four contracts were finalized, which feature two tourist camps in Qurayat, a three-star resort, and an integrated tourism complex in Bausher. Dhofar Governorate secured two contracts, one related to an existing resort in Rakhyout and another for an integrated tourism complex.

Al Dakhiliyah Governorate saw the signing of 10 contracts, encompassing a range of accommodations from three-star hotels to five-star resorts, including a tourist camp in Jabal Shams and a one-star hotel in Al Jabal Al Akhdhar. Al Batinah South Governorate signed four contracts, whereas Al Buraimi Governorate finalized one for an integrated resort.

Al Sharqiyah North Governorate led with 11 contracts, primarily in Bidiyah, featuring several tourist camps, three-star resorts, and a commercial tourism investment project in Ibra. Al Sharqiyah South Governorate followed with three contracts across the Wilayats of Sur and Jaalan Bani Bu Hassan, including a resort and two tourist camps. Musandam Governorate signed one contract for an integrated tourism complex in Khasab.

The Ministry emphasized that these investments will not only deliver economic and social benefits but also bolster Oman’s reputation as a premier tourism destination. By increasing hotel capacity and enhancing service standards, the projects are set to provide comprehensive experiences for visitors, showcasing Oman’s natural beauty, cultural heritage, and diverse landscapes.

Officials highlighted that the projects will strengthen local supply chains, promote innovation in tourism offerings, and empower SMEs to take on a larger role in the sector. With a commitment to sustainable development, the Ministry asserts that these contracts will contribute to enhancing Oman’s tourism ecosystem while generating long-term employment opportunities across the Sultanate.

This strategic initiative is part of Oman’s broader vision to balance economic growth with cultural preservation and environmental stewardship, ensuring that tourism positively impacts the nation’s social and economic development objectives. — ONA
