New ROP Regulation Permits 50% Vehicle Window Tinting: Key Insights for Vehicle Owners and Businesses in Oman
Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has introduced updated regulations permitting vehicle window tinting of up to 50 percent. This initiative aims to simplify services for motorists while upholding road safety standards.
According to the new guidelines, vehicle owners are allowed to tint all windows except the front windshield, which must remain untinted. The maximum tint permitted for both side and rear windows is set at 50 percent.
Additionally, the ROP stated that vehicles equipped with factory-installed colored glass can be licensed, as long as the glass allows for at least 30 percent visible light transmission.
The regulations also allow for the use of matte paint protection films or wraps, provided they maintain a glossy finish and adhere to specified standards.
This initiative is part of the ROP’s ongoing efforts to streamline processes for drivers, striking a balance between comfort, visibility, and road safety, especially considering the climatic conditions in the Sultanate of Oman.
