Tourism Ministry Unveils New Projects for Khareef 2025: What This Means for Investment and Business Opportunities in Oman
Muscat: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has initiated several significant tourism projects in Dhofar Governorate to enhance visitor experiences and expand the sector’s capacity.
Among the key developments is the introduction of luxury serviced apartments in Salalah, featuring 216 rooms, alongside a new three-star hotel in Mirbat with 84 rooms. Additionally, the Dhofar Private Museum has been inaugurated to showcase the region’s rich cultural and historical heritage.
These projects support the ministry’s overarching strategy to improve tourism infrastructure and attract more visitors during the khareef season, renowned for its distinctive weather and lush landscapes that set Dhofar apart from other regions in Oman.
Khalid bin Abdullah al Abri, Director General of Heritage and Tourism in Dhofar, emphasized that the Khareef Dhofar season remains one of Oman’s premier tourist events, drawing both domestic and international visitors due to its unique climate and natural beauty.
As part of its promotional efforts for Khareef Dhofar 2025, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism is targeting three primary goals:
- Maximising visibility: Ensuring extensive promotion and awareness of the season from the start.
- Visitor distribution: Managing tourist influx by dividing the season into three phases for better flow control during peak times.
- Increasing arrivals: Focusing marketing campaigns on GCC markets to boost tourist numbers.
The ministry has designated the following periods for Khareef Dhofar 2025 to assist visitor planning and enhance the tourism experience:
- First period: June 21 – July 14
- Second period: July 15 – August 30
- Third period: September 1 – October 10
These initiatives underline the government’s dedication to developing tourism as a key economic sector and promoting Dhofar as a premier cultural and natural destination in the region.
