Ministry Affirms Development Plans for Al Jabal Al Sharqi Site in Al Hamra: Key Opportunities for Investors and Entrepreneurs in Oman
Muscat: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) has reaffirmed its commitment to responding to requests for the enhancement and expansion of services in al Jabal al Sharqi, located in the Wilayat of Al Hamra. This initiative forms part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to upgrade vital tourism sites throughout the Sultanate of Oman.
In coordination with the Governor’s Office of al Dakhiliyah Governorate and other relevant authorities, the ministry confirmed that a tender has recently been issued for the construction of the al Jabal al Sharqi Oasis project. Announced in April 2025, this project aims to improve essential public services in alignment with the ministry’s broader tourism development strategies.
Furthermore, the ministry indicated that it is actively collaborating with the Governorate to implement components of the 11th Five-Year Development Plan. These efforts include establishing comprehensive service frameworks designed to support the needs of key tourist locations and landmarks within the governorate, complementing the ministry’s overall tourism growth agenda.
The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism emphasized its dedication to transforming al Jabal al Sharqi into a premier tourism destination, featuring integrated tourism infrastructure while maintaining a careful balance between tourism development, environmental sustainability, and the preservation of the area’s natural heritage.
Additionally, the ministry called on all relevant stakeholders to expedite the implementation of approved development projects. It also highlighted that legal measures will be taken, including land reclamation, for investment plots that remain undeveloped or have failed to fulfill the planned development objectives.
