Nafath Named Implementing Contractor for Community Solar Plant: What This Means for Renewable Investment Opportunities in Oman
MUSCAT, June 25 — Nafath Renewable Energy, a specialist in solar energy based in Oman, has been selected as the implementing contractor for a 1.5 MW community solar facility located in Al Wadi Al Kabir, Muscat. This project is part of Oman’s newly unveiled Imtidad programme.
The Imtidad programme, launched this week by the Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR) in collaboration with licensed electricity companies and Nama Group, allows households and businesses to take advantage of solar energy without the need to install panels on their own properties. Participants can buy into community solar stations that are connected to the national grid, receiving credits on their electricity bills proportional to their investment in the programme. The initiative was inaugurated under the guidance of Eng. Salim bin Nasser al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals.
Nasr al Nasseri, business development officer at Nafath, explained that a consumer could purchase a 10-kilowatt share. The energy generated and fed into the Nama grid will then be credited to their account, regardless of their distance from the project site. This model is particularly beneficial for customers who do not have suitable space on their properties for solar installations.
Established in 2013 by engineers Abdullah al Saidi, Musab al Farsi, and Nasser al Jabri, Nafath designs, builds, and maintains solar power systems for both government and private-sector clients. Al Nasseri noted that the firm has successfully completed projects for the Oman Investment Authority, ahliBank, Muscat Municipality, and various other governmental entities.
Nafath manages projects from start to finish, initiating with thorough feasibility studies and progressing through design, execution, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance. Each installation is equipped with a monitoring system that tracks performance on a daily, monthly, and annual basis, allowing clients to access real-time data.
“We don’t simply hand over the project once it is operational; we continue to support the client by monitoring the system’s efficiency,” Al Nasseri emphasized. He highlighted customer satisfaction as a key aspect of the company’s philosophy and pointed to their strong track record as a competitive advantage in the market.

The Imtidad programme marks a pivotal shift in Oman’s energy landscape, providing businesses and households with an accessible pathway to harness solar energy without the burden of installing personal systems. This opens up significant فرصتهایی برای سرمایهگذاران in renewable energy, especially in community-centric projects, while also mitigating risks associated with upfront installation costs. Smart entrepreneurs should consider engaging with this program, leveraging partnerships with established firms like Nafath, to tap into the growing demand for sustainable energy solutions.
