مسقط: The General Directorate of Traffic has apprehended two drivers for exceeding speeds of 200 km/h on Sultan Said bin Taimour Road while en route to Dhofar Governorate, according to the Royal Oman Police (ROP).
Utilizing mobile speed monitoring devices, authorities recorded the motorists traveling at speeds of 222 km/h and 203 km/h, both well above the road’s legal speed limit.
The ROP confirmed that the drivers were stopped, and necessary legal actions are being processed in line with existing traffic laws and regulations.
The authority emphasized the importance of adhering to speed limits and traffic rules, noting that excessive speeding is a major contributor to serious road accidents. It urged all road users to drive responsibly, especially during the peak travel season to Dhofar, to ensure their own safety and that of others.
