Oman Air Launches Bahrain-Salalah Charter Service: What This Means for Regional Business Travel and Investment Opportunities
Oman Air, in partnership with Discovery Travel, has announced the launch of a new charter service between Bahrain and Salalah, commencing on July 10. This weekly Friday service during the Khareef season will introduce 1,134 additional seats, enhancing Dhofar’s capacity to meet growing demand from Bahraini travelers.
In response to the peak season surge, Oman Air has also significantly increased domestic flights between Muscat and Salalah. Throughout July, the airline will operate 60 extra flights, offering an additional 11,766 seats to accommodate more passengers.
Ignacio Bosch, Acting Chief Commercial Officer at Oman Air, stated, “Khareef continues to draw strong interest from across the GCC, with Bahrain representing a key market for Salalah. By launching this charter alongside expanded domestic capacity, we offer greater flexibility for travelers while supporting Dhofar’s continued development as a leading regional tourism destination.”
Husain Alekri, Managing Director at Discovery Travel, added, “We are pleased to collaborate with Oman Air to introduce this direct Bahrain-Salalah charter during the Khareef season. Salalah remains one of the GCC’s most sought-after summer destinations, and this service offers Bahraini travelers a convenient, non-stop option. We believe this initiative will further strengthen tourism ties between Bahrain and Oman, making it easier for families and holidaymakers to enjoy the unique beauty of Dhofar.”
This new Bahrain-Salalah charter service underscores Oman Air’s commitment to enhancing connectivity to Salalah during the Khareef season. Together with expanded domestic flights, these measures provide increased travel options for both domestic and regional visitors, ensuring smoother access to Dhofar during one of the busiest tourism periods in Oman.

The launch of the Bahrain-Salalah charter service and the significant expansion of domestic flights demonstrate Oman Air’s strategic commitment to capitalizing on the Khareef season’s tourism boom, presenting substantial opportunities for businesses in Dhofar’s hospitality and retail sectors. This move enhances regional connectivity, inviting increased GCC tourist inflows, which smart investors should leverage by investing in tourism infrastructure and services to meet rising demand. However, entrepreneurs must also consider the risks of seasonal fluctuations and ensure agile operational models to optimize profitability during peak periods.
