Jindal’s RO 150 Million Steel Plant in Suhar: What It Means for Oman’s Industrial Growth and Investment Climate
MUSCAT: The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn) has signed a significant investment agreement with Jindal Steel Company to establish an integrated iron and steel plant in Suhar Industrial City. The project entails an investment of RO 150 million.
The facility will be developed on an area exceeding 583,000 square meters in phase 7 of Suhar Industrial City, further solidifying Oman’s status as a regional hub for heavy industries and advanced manufacturing.
This integrated plant is expected to boost the domestic supply of iron and steel products, enhance export activities, and generate employment opportunities for Omani nationals. The initiative aligns with Oman’s broader strategy to diversify its industrial base and attract value-added investments in strategic sectors.
The agreement comes after Jindal Group’s acquisition of Al Qamar Steel Company, highlighting increasing international investor confidence in Oman’s industrial sector and business environment. It also underscores Jindal Group’s plans to expand its presence in the regional steel industry.
The new facility is projected to stimulate the growth of downstream industries related to construction, infrastructure, and manufacturing, while reinforcing Suhar’s position as a vital industrial and logistics hub in the region. — ONA
