Readiness for Khareef Dhofar Season: What It Means for Business Opportunities and Investments in Oman
SALALAH: HH Sayyid Marwan bin Turki al Said, Governor of Dhofar, convened a meeting with representatives from both public and private sector organizations to evaluate preparations for the 2026 Dhofar Khareef season.
This gathering, part of the early planning process for the annual tourism period, focused on improving tourism services and facilities and enhancing readiness across key sectors such as accommodation, transportation, catering, health, security, and municipal services.
Discussions included strategies for developing natural and cultural tourism sites, as well as ensuring the availability of high-quality essential goods.
The Governor emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration between public and private entities to deliver a comprehensive tourism experience that highlights Dhofar’s distinctive natural environment and supports the goals of Oman Vision 2040 for sustainable tourism development. He also underscored the need to maintain public health and safety standards and to create high-quality events that enrich visitors’ experiences.
Representatives from relevant authorities presented their readiness reports, covering road and public facility maintenance, plans to expand the capacity of hotels, resorts, and camps, and the organization of temporary commercial activities during the season.
The Dhofar Khareef season is one of Oman’s most prominent tourism events, attracting thousands of visitors annually due to its mild climate and unique misty landscapes. It plays a significant role in boosting the governorate’s economic and tourism sectors.
Participants expressed confidence in the success of the 2026 season, highlighting ongoing infrastructure development and the provision of high-quality services that will enhance Dhofar’s reputation as a global tourist destination.
