BARCELONA: Omani businesses have successfully obtained contracts exceeding RO 30 million at the 2026 International Seafood Fair, underscoring Oman’s expanding influence in global seafood markets.
The participation, organized by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), attracted notable interest from international buyers, distributors, and investors, fostering new commercial partnerships across Africa, Europe, and Asia.
Khaled bin Sulaiman al Salehi, Director General for Marketing and Commercial Affairs at Madayn, emphasized that the successful outcomes highlight the significance of international exhibitions in broadening export channels and enhancing trust in Omani products.
He also noted that the event acted as a vital platform to promote investment opportunities within Oman’s fisheries and industrial sectors, including initiatives focused on seafood processing, aquaculture, and specialized retail. In collaboration with relevant authorities and expert consultants, Madayn has created preliminary feasibility studies for several high-potential investments.
Dr. Masoud bin Sulaiman al Azri, representing the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, stated that the fisheries sector remains a vital component of Oman’s economic diversification efforts. In 2025, Oman’s fish production exceeded 900,000 tonnes, with exports reaching 84 countries, propelled by advancements in value-added processing, aquaculture, and cold chain infrastructure.
He added that participating in global exhibitions provides a strategic opportunity for exchanging expertise, accessing new technologies, and enhancing the sector’s production and marketing capabilities.
Officials highlighted an increasing interest from investors in Oman’s industrial cities and special economic zones, motivated by competitive incentives and a supportive business environment tailored for the fisheries industry.
