OQ Alternative Energy and Naqaa Sign Deal for Up to 1,100 MW of Wind

OQ Alternative Energy and Naqaa Sustainable Energy agreed to develop up to 1,100 MW of wind projects in Duqm, Mahout and Sadah.

OQ Alternative Energy (OQAE) and Naqaa Sustainable Energy have signed an agreement to develop wind power projects with a total capacity of up to 1,100 MW. The signing took place in July 2025 under the patronage of Oman's Minister of Energy and Minerals, Salim bin Nasser al Aufi.

The projects will be built in the wilayats of Duqm, Mahout and Sadah, in the Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates. The turbines are planned to be made locally by Mawarid Turbine, which is expected to set up a factory in Duqm. OQ and Mawarid signed a memorandum for that factory in April 2025.

OQAE chairman Said Mohammed Al Masoudi and Naqaa CEO Mustafa Mohammed Al Hinai signed for their companies.

The reports do not give a completion timeline or an investment figure. The deal is part of OQ Group's plan for an integrated renewable energy value chain, with local know-how and support for Omani green-energy start-ups.
