Construction Starts on PDO's Rawafid Wind and Solar Projects
Construction has started on three renewable projects for Petroleum Development Oman: two wind farms and a 105 MW solar plant, all sold to PDO under long-term contracts.

Construction has started on three renewable energy projects for Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), known as the Rawafid Projects. The work was reported in October 2025.
Two are wind farms, Riyah-1 and Riyah-2, with a combined capacity of 234 MW. They sit at PDO's Amin and West Nimr fields in southern Oman. The third is the North Oman Solar plant, rated at 105 MWac, at Saih Nahaydah in the north. Together the three total about 339 MW.
The projects belong to a joint venture of OQ Alternative Energy (51%) and TotalEnergies Renewables (49%). PDO will buy the power under long-term power purchase agreements. Huadong Engineering Corporation, a PowerChina subsidiary, is the contractor.
When the reports were published, turbine foundation works had started at the wind sites, and pile installation for the solar trackers was under way. The target dates are Q2 2026 for the solar plant and Q4 2026 for the wind farms.
