Oman-Backed Solaris Agrees to Control Brazilian Grain Exporter Agribrasil

Solaris, majority-owned by Oman's sovereign wealth fund, agreed to buy a controlling stake in Agribrasil, a Brazilian grain exporter, to support food supply security.

Solaris Commodities Holding, a company majority-owned by Oman's sovereign wealth fund, has agreed to take a controlling stake in Agribrasil, a Brazilian grain exporter. The agreement was signed on 28 July 2025 and reported at the end of that month.

Agribrasil, founded by Frederico Humberg, ranks among Brazil's top five grain exporters. The deal also covers the Santa Catarina grain terminal (TESC). Solaris agreed separately to buy extra minority stakes in that terminal. Neither report gives the exact size of the controlling stake or the price.

The deal needs regulatory approval and was expected to close by the end of 2025. We did not find a closing announcement.

Solaris said the investment gives it a foothold in Brazil's corn and soybean markets and access to port logistics. Oman presents it as a way to secure food supplies, in line with Vision 2040.

Agribrasil's data shows the Middle East and North Africa region, including Oman, takes 58% of its exports. In the first quarter of 2025 it sold more than one million tonnes of grain, mostly corn and soy.
