Contract Awarded for Hawiyat Najm Glamping Project

Muscat Municipality has awarded the contract for the Hawiyat Najm Glamping Project in Qurayyat, a site of about 500,000 square metres.

Muscat Municipality has awarded the contract and started work on the Hawiyat Najm Glamping Project in Wilayat Qurayyat. Both Oman Observer and Times of Oman reported the award on 30 October 2025. The site covers about 500,000 square metres.

The masterplan has three zones: a public park around the sinkhole, a camping and caravan area, and a luxury glamping zone with tents and caravans, some with views of the Sea of Oman. Planned features include a panoramic bridge over the sinkhole, a lift, a zipline, walking and cycling trails, children's play areas, food trucks and a multipurpose theatre.

Oman Observer reports more than 300 jobs and over 5,000 visitors a day at peak times. The glamping hub itself is given a daily capacity of 144 visitors in both reports. The reports do not explain the gap between these two figures.

Solar power and waste recycling are planned. Muscat Municipality chairman Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Humaidi said the project would accommodate more visitors.

The reports say works have started but give no start date. They do not name the winning contractor or a completion date.
